NOC mandatory for renewal of residency permits of expat engineers

According to the latest circular issued by the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), all labour departments have been ordered not to renew the Residency permits of expat engineers, unless they obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Kuwait Engineers Society (KES).

The directive states that an expat engineer should obtain NOC from KES about his academic qualification.

Earlier, the PAM, together with KES had developed an electronic system for verification of engineering degree. But the current regulation for public sector employment emphasizes that the engineering degree should be from an NBA accredited institution. The KES updates the list of NBA Accredited institutions across the country, including India on an annual basis.

The new directive is likely to affect expat engineers whose engineering degrees are not from the accredited institutions.
