Kuwait International Airport expansion to be completed ahead of schedule
The Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, together with Minister of State for Planning and Development Affairs, Hind Al-Sabeeh revealed that Limak Construction Company, responsible for work on Kuwait International Airport (KWI) expansion, has agreed to complete the work in four years instead of six.
The construction company has made the commitment to finalize the project two years ahead of schedule, based on the co-operation shown by Kuwaiti authorities, particularly the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (SCPD), she pointed out.
Al-Sabeeh, following her discussions with the Turkish Minister of Development, Lutfi Elvan, said that the Kuwaiti leadership represented by HH the Amir and the SCPD attaches great importance to this mega project.
The project is of strategic importance, and hence all competent authorities are working together to facilitate its implementation, she said, and added that the construction company is satisfied with the procedures adopted in the recent period.
Elvan expressed gratitude to Kuwait for its support to legitimacy in Turkey in the wake of the failed coup. He also appreciated Kuwait for awarding the airport project contract to Limak, and noted that the airport would be able to handle more than 25 million passengers annually, after completion of expansion works.
