Kuwait vows to protect rights of expat workers
Much attention has been paid to protect rights of expat workers and their employers, in-line with international terms, said Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Hind Al-Subaih.
In line with this, protocols have been signed with source countries of expat workers, and Kuwait has established electronic link systems with these countries for a smooth sharing of information, said Subaih, Minister of State for Planning and Development Affairs, in a statement, after meeting Maria Grazia, Special Rapporteur of UN and discussing on the various topics of mutual concern.
Subaih pointed out establishment of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) and the Kuwaiti Centre for sheltering foreign workers to resolve problems faced by expats, and provide them with better living conditions.
In the same context, PAM Acting Director General, Abdullah Al-Motatah also met Grazia and an accompanying delegation, offering them good information on PAM’s projects on human rights and fighting human trafficking.
