Steep increase in work permit and residence transfer fee

The Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, together with State Minister for Planning and Development, Hind Al-Subaih, signed a new law which steeply raises fares on work permits and transfer of residence.

The decision is to raise the charge for work permit for the first time from KD2 to KD50, and its renewal from KD2 to KD10. Further, the fee for transfer of work permit (residence or changing employer) has been increased from KD10 to KD50. The decision becomes effective from 1st June.

Earlier, the Public Authority for Civil Information has increased fares for civil Ids from KD2 to KD5 from April 2016. Various other charges are expected shortly.
