Kuwaitis facing inflation may be granted KD100 allowance

According to government sources, plans are on to increase the cost of living allowance for Kuwaiti employees in government departments to face the increase in prices of consumer products following implementation of subsidies rationalization decisions.

The growth will include employees whose salaries are less than KD1500, who fall under the limited-income bracket and are likely to receive subsidies one way or the other by the government. It has been suggested that cash payment is the best way to compensate for any increased prices in the market.

As for nationals within the limited-income category, who do not work for the government and receive labour support, it is suggested that they should be treated on par with government employees to avoid making them seek government jobs.
