Conditional transfer of work permits may be a welcome move

The transfer of work permits from one sponsor to another in government projects is subject to a condition of spending at least one year working for the first sponsor and getting the sponsors approval, as such a measure can help reduce the number of work permits issued to 70 percent of the usual rate.

Such adjustments would also allow labourers to transfer visas to dependant or domestic labour to work for other ministries, or government establishments, sources said.

Further, the sources said that recent measures taken pertaining to some government contracts like freezing companiesí files, helped increase transactions of visa cancellation, aiming to leave Kuwait for good, as the cancellations rose from 20 to 80.

Also, the Capital Work Permits Manager at Manpower Public Authority has assured that major companies and establishments like private schools, law firms that are already exempted from issuing work permits, will be allowed to issue work permits online in future, without having to visit respective departments, saving them the time and effort.
