Surveillance cameras to be installed throughout Kuwait

Kuwait is likely to install surveillance cameras throughout the country to increase security and fight crime.

The Interior Minister, Sheikh Mohammed Al Khalid has taken an initiative aimed at regulating the introduction of CCTV cameras across Kuwait.

Such preventive measures will be effective to prevent and reduce incidence of crime and speeds identification of the perpetrators, al Khalid said.

Further, they will also help in preserving safety of those who go to residential and commercial complexes and central markets, thereby fighting crimes in areas where they occur, he said.

Shaikh Mohammad, also the Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait said that the proposed new law would regulate the installation and use of security surveillance cameras in establishing roads.

Al Rasheedi also said that cameras will help in protecting residents and the private security companies should be called to implement and monitor the service through digital technology systems.
